10th Grade

I feel proud of myself that I have finally made it this far into my academic career and hope to achieve even more. I have heard that out of all the years of high school, that 10th grade is the hardest out of all of them. That makes me nervous for next year, but also excited. I have many goals for next year, but the most important one for me is my grades. I hope to get high honors or higher. I plan on also playing soccer, baseball, and basketball which would make me even more stressed out, but will build my character and me as a person athletically.

Do you have advice for me as I enter 10th grade?

College Warm-Up

a. When I graduate high school, I would like to major in astronomy, engineering, or something about science. I would like to have a job that would make enough money to support me.

b. Yes, I do want to go to college because going to college could lengthen the choices I have for careers.

c. I think it is important what different majors they offer, if it's far away, the environment, and the price per year of the college. Also, if I enjoy the place it's located like the people and the place(suburbs, city, or small town)

The Dark Lord of Derkholm by Dianna Jones

I am starting to enjoy this book because the further I read, the more I can't resist to stop. Derk is forced to be the dark lord for a year. He has to bring tours of people from other world around their world, but under Mr. Chesney's orders, Derk has to find ways/traps to kill the people going on the tour.

I thought this book was confusing at the beginning, but I started to understand it a little better as I read further on. I do enjoy this book because there are interesting characters such as Mr. Scales who is an enormous dragon that basically blocks out the sun when it flies in the air. Mr. Scales is also responsible for burning Derk and now his son, Blade, must do Derk's work until Derk is all healed.

Technology

I think that we are getting overwhelmed with technology. Everyone in America depends on some sort of electronic device to communicate or entertain themselves. I am not saying that I don't use any technology, but I think that most people wouldn't be as distracted by it. I also think that technology is a great advancement for life because it has made communicating a whole lot easier which has made living easier than 60 or so years ago.

Book Talk

a. I am reading Kringle by Tony Abbott

b. Right now I am at the part where Merwen sacrificed herself to save Kringle when the goblins invaded their small house in the middle of the forest. She made Kringle run away and she let the goblins take her away instead of Kringle because she wanted to protect him. Now Kringle is on his own and trying to find Merwen by himself, but on his search he fell asleep underneath a tree and when he awoke, he was being carried away by elves. The elves are humble creatures that are glad to have a guest in their forested village. Kringle is just thankful he has food to eat now. The elves are going to help Kringle find Merwen, but until now she is still lost.

c. I think that this book is full of adventure and action which is the genre that I enjoy reading. So far it's an amazing book and keeps getting better as I progress. I think the details are excellent and so are the characters too. Even though it's sort of a Christmas book, I still think that it's a book everyone should read no matter what season it is.

d. So what do you think, will Kringle find Merwen or will he be looking for her for the rest of his life?

Something about me

My name is Tim. I was born in Bethlehem, NH and go to Profile High School. I am extremely athletic and enjoy playing many sports. I like baseball, soccer, and basketball. Those are only a few of my favorite sports. I am currently in my Freshman year of high school and will graduate in 2013. My favorite MLB team is the Boston Red Sox.
